About the Artist

Rachel Hawthorn is a photographic artist from Denver, Colorado. Working mostly in the realm of photography with an occasional foray into painting and printmaking, Rachel deals with issues of memory and remembrance. Rather than focus on nostalgia, the work is a psychological portrait of memory using visual cues from personal landscapes. Rachel is also interested in the more academic concerns of digital media in relation to visual arts, originality and authorship.

With her work regularly exhibited in Colorado, Rachel is making a move toward a greater level of exposure and experience as an exhibiting artist, author and juror. Her poetry and fiction have also been published in small journals, and continue to receive praise. Rachel divides her time between her home in Denver, Colorado, an apartment in Brooklyn, and summers in upstate New York pursuing her MFA at Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, at Bard College.
