The oldest series to be included here on my site, the flower studies are a direct conversation with photographic history and ways of looking. Inspired by Edward Steichen’s 1914 print of Heavy Roses, I purchased large quantities of flowers and set up studio shots around my house, using both controlled and available light.
Each image is approximately 8x10 (varies with full frame) and matted to 16x20, and is printed in a limited series of up to five prints of each image on matte ilford fiber based paper with a light selenium tone. All images shot and printed in 2000.
